Cheez It’s story
Cheez It came to us after ending up in a shelter in Ohio in a condition that left everyone concerned for his survival. When we first learned about him, we were told he was critical and likely did not have much time left. The shelter’s medical staff suspected that he might have cancer, which they believed explained his poor condition.
Once Cheez It arrived in our care, it quickly became apparent that his situation was not due to illness, but the result of severe abuse and neglect. His body bore the signs of prolonged mistreatment—open wounds, scars, and injuries consistent with being confined in a hard, restrictive space for a long period of time. He was extremely emaciated, showing clear signs of starvation, and it was heartbreaking to imagine the suffering he endured before finding us.
Despite the severity of his condition, Cheez It’s spirit remained strong. With proper medical care, nutrition, and patience, he began gaining weight and gradually regained strength. Over time, he even started walking again, though it is unlikely he will ever walk completely normally.
Today, Cheez It is safe, loved, and thriving in a stable environment. He has found a permanent place in the heart of an FBH foster, where he will remain a cherished resident dog for the rest of his life. While he may carry the physical reminders of his past, Cheez It’s journey is a testament to resilience, the power of love and care, and the difference that compassion can make in the life of a dog who has endured unimaginable hardship.
