Meet Millie
Millie’s story is one of resilience and love. She came to us after her owners moved away and left her—and several others—behind. When she was found, she was heavily pregnant and actually in labor. Within 24 hours, she delivered seven healthy puppies, a true testament to her strength and determination.
Millie is a BIG girl, weighing 80lbs, you can tell she is food motivated! She is fully potty-trained and does wonderfully in her kennel—a remarkable achievement considering she spent most of her life outdoors.
The day Millie was found. In labor.
She gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats, though honestly, she barely notices them. Millie’s world revolves around her people and affection. It’s clear she was deprived of love for much of her life, and now that she’s experiencing it, she can’t get enough. She’s a true velcro dog—following you everywhere (except, amusingly, the bathroom, which she’s oddly terrified of!). She thrives on cuddles, pets, kisses, and constant attention, soaking up love at every opportunity.
Her desire for affection can be a little overwhelming at times, but after all she’s endured, it’s completely understandable—and impossible not to love. Millie is smart, food-motivated, and learning new tricks every day.
When she’s not showering her people with love, Millie enjoys lounging in bed, sprawling on the couch, or stretching out on the kitchen floor. She’s a big fan of naps and comfort, and she’s recently begun playing gently with other dogs. For the first time in her life, she’s learning what it means to just be a dog—no puppies to care for, no stress—and it’s been a joy to watch.
Unfortunately, Millie recently tested heartworm positive. After years of repeated litters, being abandoned while pregnant, giving birth in stressful conditions, and now facing heartworm disease, she deserves nothing less than a peaceful, loving, forever home. Her treatment will be fully covered by the rescue, and adoption will not be finalized until treatment is complete.
Millie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is ready to bring love, loyalty, and endless snuggles into the life of the family lucky enough to adopt her.
